Refresh!

This used to be known as retreats, but has changed to reflect what happens to women's souls at these times away. These occur every 12-18 months, usually at a nearby location.

If you weren’t able to attend this year’s Refresh Weekend, let me share what you missed.  This year’s theme focused on what we do when life gets hard.  Three women from our own church: Holly Mitchell, Amy Hanna, and Marilyn Wong, shared from their own experiences a time when life didn’t make sense.

Holly spoke on Friday night, sharing how her childhood dream of being married and having children and a home was shattered when her husband of four years came home one evening and declared he no longer loved her and was filing for divorce. Much to Holly’s disbelief, her husband packed up his bags and left, never to return.  Holly retold the story of how God reached down and over the next year and a half carried her and taught her of His love.  He was no longer a God she was raised to believe in, but He became her personal counselor, comforter and refuge.  Holly explained that she felt like she had this big open hole that left her feeling wounded and empty.  But God closed that hole by filling it with Himself and His Word, healing Holly as a result...
