Our goal is to provide children with the chance to grow close to God every Sunday morning and to provide parents with support so that they can create deep spiritual roots throughout the rest of the week.

Sunday School for infants through 5th grade is available during both our 9:00 and 10:45 am Sunday services.

From the Director

The longer I am here at Blackhawk working with our kids, the more certain and steadfast I become about the purpose of Children’s Ministries. I often look at all the things thrown at our kids and see what they face every day, and I cannot help but have an intense awareness of the importance of the Church’s need to partner with parents. Our hope is that what kids experience on Sunday mornings is encouraging and useful for parents to build upon during the week.

I was reminded recently of Ecclesiastes 4:12 “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” I truly believe that there is great power and strength in partnering together to teach our kids about God and what it means to live rooted in His Truth. Here at Blackhawk, we talk about Gathering, Connecting and Going, and we want to be able to do that with you and your family.

We love your kids and what we get to do on Sunday mornings, and we consider it a privilege to be partnered with you. Please know that our office is always open to you and your family.

Serving with you,
Janice Maurizi

FAQ’s

When can I check in my child?

Teachers are to be in the classrooms 15 minutes prior to the start of each service. You may check in your child at this time.

How do I check in my child?

We have a computerized check-in system for all kids, Nursery-5th grade! Come to one of six check-in stations located throughout the building to check-in your children, print name badges and a parent security tag. We are excited about this technology that will make Children’s Ministries a safe place for your kids to be on Sunday mornings.
Kids must be checked in and wearing a name badge to enter their Sunday School classroom. At the end of the service, parents will need to show their security tag to pick up their child. The check-in stations near the Children’s Ministries Welcome Center is staffed with volunteers to help make the check-in process run smoothly for visitors.

Who cares for my child?

Children’s Ministries has a wonderful team of adult and teen volunteers. All adult volunteers fill out an application and have gone through a background check.

How do I know where my child goes?

We have posted information here on the site and there are class lists at each check-in station. We would also encourage you to stop by the Children’s Ministries Welcome Center located on the first floor down the ramp from the elevator. Any of our Greeters would also be glad to assist you.

What if Children’s Ministries needs to contact me during the service?

If your child is sick or we need to contact you for any other reason during the service, your child’s number (found on your security tag) will be put on the screen at the front of the sanctuary.

What happens if there is an emergency?

Children’s Ministries has an emergency plan in case of fire or tornado warnings. A written plan and map of the campus is in each classroom.

How do you handle food allergies?

Due to the extreme sensitivity of peanut allergies, we do not use products containing peanuts for any snack or craft. We do also try to stock snacks that are gluten-free & dairy-free for children with those allergies.

Who do I contact for more information?

The staff of Children’s Ministries is always willing to answer any questions you may have. Please feel free to contact us with any comments or concerns.
