Short Term Trips
Short term mission trips are a growing part of Global Ministries at Blackhawk and an opportunity for individuals and families to serve as "Priests that GO" across the street or around the world.
We desire to see each person that participates in a short term mission trip:
-- gain a greater perspective of who God is and His heart for the world
-- have a tangible opportunity to serve people in need
-- live out faith in Christ in a new place
-- become more enabled to share the love of Christ at home
-- become more understanding in praying for Christians around the world
-- become an active supporter of God's work around the world
-- consider full-time missionary work
Please prayerfully consider joining a Blackhawk short-term trip. For information about upcoming trips or to join a team, contact Jeff Harless at jharless@blackhawkministries.org or 493-7400, ext. 299.
Katrina Recovery Trips to Biloxi, MS

In August 2005, Hurricane Katrina devastated the gulf coast destroying hundreds of homes and businesses. In the months following Hurricane Katrina Blackhawk joined other churches and organizations to purchase trailers for what has been named Hope City located in Biloxi, MS. Hope City is operated by the Hope Crisis Response Network and is capable of housing 40 volunteers each week to assist in the much needed reconstruction efforts in the Biloxi area. Hope City is still in operation and volunteers are greatly needed.
Blackhawk supports the efforts of The Chapel as they lead and organize trips to Hope City. Each trip will likely be very different as homes are in various stages of construction and require many different skills. On past trips there has been demolition, painting, dry-wall, electrical, framing, misc. cleaning, plumbing and insulation. The best tool you can bring is flexibility.
You can join area believers on a trip to Hope City. The cost for each trip is $200.00.

Kenya, East Africa
Every day in Kenya, approximately 300 babies are abandoned. These babies are sometimes left in garbage heaps and on the side of the road. Most do not survive, but some are found and brought to local hospitals or orphanages for a second chance at life. There are an estimated 2.3 million orphans in Kenya. New Life Homes' ministry cares for abandoned and orphaned babies, with priority admission given to babies who are HIV positive.
In 2007, Blackhawk began a partnering relationship with New Life Homes in Kenya. New Life Home Trust operates several children's homes in Kenya with the mission to rescue and care for orphans and vulnerable children. We plan to send several teams each year to participate in a variety of ministry needs.
